Golfers/Tennis Elbow

Elbow tendinopathy is one of the most common conditions of the elbow. It is called Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis when the outside tendon of the elbow is injured and golfers elbow or medial epicondylitis when the inside elbow tendon is affected.

Other sports or other heavy activities repetitively using the same tendons can cause tennis or golfers elbow and it mainly affects the dominant arm.

Symptoms such as pain in the forearm or upper arm, weakness of the forearm and pain on gripping are all common.

Can Billericay Physiotherapy help?

Yes! physiotherapy can help by allowing you to understand the causes of your elbow pain and to plan a rehabilitation programme to help address the possible causes and symptoms. A specific and progressive home exercise programme to improve flexibility and strength is essential to manage your pain. Hands on physiotherapy may also be used including frictions, massage, mobilisations and ultrasound to increase range of movement, reduce pain and return to normal function.
