Tendons are the connective tissues which attach muscles onto the bones. They are like the ropes of a pulley: as your muscle contracts it pulls on the tendon, which in turn moves the bone that it attaches to, causing movement of the joint. Irritation of the tendon through overuse and/or problems with movement patterns (referred to as tendonitis or tendinopathy), or a tear/rupture of the tendon or muscle are common complaints
Can Billericay Physiotherapy help?
YES! Physiotherapy can help by allowing you to understand the nature of your symptoms and best way to manage them. A specific, progressive Home Exercise Programme to regain full range of movement, strength and function back to the affected area will form the basis of your treatment. ‘Hands On’ Therapy including mobilisations, stretches, ultrasound and massage may also be used to optimise your recovery.
